Protein Supplementation Does Not Augment Muscle

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study from the Departments of Human Movement Sciences and the Department of Clinical Chemistry at Maastricht University in the Netherlands that shows protein supplementaton does not augment the increase in strengh or muscle mass in healthy men who normally consume adequate amounts of dietary protein.Referenced Study: Verdijk et al Feb 2009
Soy Food Intake Reduces Risk of Colorectal Cancer

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and the National Cancer Institute that demonstrates that total soy food intake is inversely associated with a 8% reduction in cancer risk for each 1 oz dry weight of soy product consumption per day. Women in the highest tertile of intake had a relative risk of colorectal cancer which was reduced by 33%.
Obesity Associated with Reduced Mental Function

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study from University College London and the center for gerontology in Paris, France. 5,131 adults were evaluated for body mass index (BMI) and cognition (Mini-Mental State Examination) from an age of 25 to an mean age of 61. Researchers found that long-term obesity in adulthood is associated with reduced mental function such as memory, attention, learning, awareness and judgement.Referenced Study (Sabia, S et al)
Occupational Stress Associated with Stroke

The Archives of Internal Medicine published a study from Japan that associates occupational stress in men, but not women with increased stroke. The study evaluated 6,553 men and women over a mean follow-up of 11 years and found that job strain was associated with over a 2-fold increase among men with a combination of high job demand and low job control.
